Psychotherapy

Welcome to a New Chapter of Healing and Growth!

I am Esther Chelladurai, Licensed Mental Health Service Provider (LPC-MHSP) and Licensed Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselor (LADAC-II) (Lic #5956, #1562).

My goal is to provide compassionate, affordable counseling to individuals who are ready to take the next step in their journey toward healing, self-discovery, and personal growth.

A Journey Rooted in Dedication and Service

My career has been shaped by a deep commitment to helping others. I began my journey at Cumberland Heights Inpatient Treatment Center in Nashville, where I completed my internship while pursuing my graduate studies at Lipscomb University. This experience laid the foundation for my passion for serving individuals struggling with addiction.

After completing my graduate program, I was fortunate to work with Mental Health Cooperative (MHC), where I became a pioneer in their Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) clinic. During the pandemic, I managed a caseload of nearly 150 clients in Murfreesboro and Nashville, many of whom were struggling with Fentanyl, Heroin, and Opioid addiction. Despite the challenges, I had the privilege of working with a dedicated team that continued to provide in-person services, helping those in need.

I integrated group therapy, art therapy, and volunteer programs into our treatment plans and collaborated with the team to streamline documentation practices, helping ease clinician workloads. Additionally, I was involved in mentorship programs, passing on the knowledge I had gained to newer team members.

Expanding Expertise and Knowledge

As I continued to grow in my career, I sought out new opportunities to expand my expertise. I worked at the Papillion Center for Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD), where I learned the principles of Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI) and participated in the Broken Princess program, helping children and families affected by fetal exposure to alcohol and drugs.

In addition to working with children with ADHD, I engaged with families, teaching effective parenting skills to promote successful behavioral outcomes. I also worked with teens, young adults, adults facing ADHD, life stagnation, and personality disorders, including Borderline and Narcissistic Personality Disorders.

A Commitment to Community

In my role at TN Mental Wellness in Gallatin, I had the privilege of providing therapy for individuals ages 9 and above, as well as offering free weekly stress and anxiety management groups. I was also a proud member of the Sumner Prevention Coalition, working to make a positive impact on the local community.

Through Brainspotting Phase 1 and High Acuity Brainspotting training from some of the world’s leading experts, I have been able to provide in-depth trauma, grief, and addiction processing for my clients. These advanced techniques allow me to help clients work through deep-rooted emotional challenges with precision and care.

Furthermore, I have worked in various nursing facilities in Mt. Juliet, Lebanon, and Smyrna, providing psychotherapy to individuals dealing with adjustment, anxiety, depression, grief, dementia, Alzheimer’s, and a history of substance abuse. These experiences have deepened my understanding of the complex needs of older adults and those in long-term care.

Starting My Own Practice: A Dream to Give Back

In late 2024, I opened my private practice with one clear intention: to offer affordable, compassionate counseling services to individuals and families in the local community. My goal is to provide a space where people can heal, grow, and ultimately become the best version of themselves—something I have always been passionate about as a therapist.

Are You Ready to Start Your Journey with Me?

Whether you’re navigating addiction, mental health challenges, life transitions, or family issues, I’m here to walk beside you, offering the support, understanding, and tools you need to create positive change. Let’s work together to help you move toward a more fulfilling, balanced, and meaningful life.

My Approach As a therapist, I follow a multi-modal integrated approach, which means I draw upon a variety of evidence-based therapies to tailor treatment to the unique needs of each client. This approach allows me to address emotional, cognitive, and behavioral challenges from different angles, ensuring a holistic and personalized path to healing.

Some of the key modalities I integrate include:

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT): This widely recognized approach helps clients identify and challenge unhelpful thoughts and beliefs, replacing them with healthier, more realistic patterns of thinking. CBT is especially effective in treating anxiety, depression, and various mood disorders.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT): A form of CBT, DBT is particularly useful for individuals struggling with emotional dysregulation, self-harm, or suicidal ideation. It emphasizes mindfulness, emotional regulation, distress tolerance, and interpersonal effectiveness.

Reality Therapy (RT): This approach focuses on helping individuals take responsibility for their choices and behavior, encouraging them to focus on the present and make decisions that align with their values and goals. RT is particularly effective in addressing issues like relationship problems, addiction, and self-esteem struggles.

Brainspotting: This trauma-focused therapy helps clients access and process unresolved trauma stored in the brain. Brainspotting is particularly effective for those who have experienced deeply entrenched emotional pain or traumatic experiences.

Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT): Combining cognitive therapy with mindfulness strategies, MBCT helps clients become more aware of their thoughts and feelings in the present moment. It’s highly effective for preventing relapse in depression and managing stress and anxiety.

Motivational Interviewing (MI): This client-centered approach focuses on enhancing intrinsic motivation to change. MI is helpful in addressing ambivalence and encouraging clients to make positive decisions, especially when dealing with addiction or behavioral change.

12-Step Facilitation: Drawing from the principles of 12-Step programs, this modality supports individuals struggling with addiction or compulsive behaviors. It fosters connection, accountability, and spiritual growth as part of the recovery process.

By blending these modalities, I can offer a tailored, flexible approach that meets clients where they are in their journey, helping them develop the tools, insights, and resilience they need to move forward. Whether you’re seeking emotional healing, behavioral change, or spiritual growth, this integrated method ensures that therapy is both comprehensive and effective.
